Dr, Robert Liroff, Therapist in Union Square, Clinical Psychologist

WELCOME

I’m glad you made your way here. I invite you to contact me for a brief phone consultation to see if we could work together.

Robert Liroff, Psy.D.

Clinical Psychologist in Union Square

I am a licensed clinical psychologist practicing in Manhattan in the Union Square area, and have been providing individualized therapy since 1994.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING

I earned my Master’s Degree (MA) in Clinical Psychology at the California Institute of Integral Studies, which reflected my interest in combining Eastern change processes with Western study and clinical practice. While earning my Doctor of Psychogy degree (PsyD) at the Graduate School of Professional Psychology at the University of Denver, I extensively trained in Cognitive-Behavioral and Behavior-Analytic approaches to psychotherapy.

After completing a joint internship at Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care and the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, and then a Post-Doctoral program at the Institute for Behavior Therapy in New York City, I began my independent practice.

TREATMENT FOCUS

My background has led me to combine a broad Cognitive-Behavioral orientation with contemporary acceptance and change strategies. I use a flexible, open-minded, whole-person approach to therapy.

I primarily address anxiety disorders, mood disorders, relationship issues, self-image problems, habit disorders, and emotional disturbance.

My working style incorporates approaches such as mindfulness practice, interventions from the field of Positive Psychology, and other useful elements to help you change in the manner best-suited to you.

I VALUE OUR WORK

I’m motivated and moved by the opportunity to collaborate with others to improve their lives and their relationships with themselves and with others. When not engaged in my clinical work, I enjoy spending time with my family and activities such as listening to music, watching films, exploring museums, mind-body practices, and hiking.
